H & B Avon are set to play the Burnside Babes this weekend, something they have been keen to do since their first round loss to them. Avon finally broke their ‘losing streak’ with a win against Southern United and are hoping to keep their momentum up. Last week’s victory was a call for celebration with a few Eels going missing from the river. Jackie Eden called the celebration quits fairly early along with Zoe ‘Mum’ Pullar, a contrast to Lizzie ‘still can’t score’ Thomson who is now in doubt for Saturday’s game after the Irishman got the better of her. Even though the win was convincing, it wasn’t enough to score the team some free Chinese cuisine from Madam Kwongs, courtesy of Matt Walcott.
University holidays and a long list of injuries meant that numbers were low at training, so a bit of excitement was added. One would think that diving on the turf comes naturally to eels, but unfortunately it does not. Commitment in the attacking circle will be something to look out for this weekend after a spot of diving practice on Wednesday night. ZPull put her body on the line whereas Julia ‘rap god’ Rolleston was afraid she would rip her new activewear. Unfortunately, Amy Walcott missed out on the diving lessons and may even be sporting sandals on Saturday after being diagnosed with a serious blister.
Zoe ‘no rules’ Merrick says Ka Kite Ano to the Eels for four long weeks as she sets off abroad. After her #1 man Bernie Sanders dropped out of the presidential race, Zoe went a full 180 and is jetting off to the USA to cast her vote for Trump. On the other hand wedding season is finally over and Sarah McLaren will be around to step up in the attacking circle for the next few weeks with Kidi ‘da finisher’ Brown being sidelined.
H & B Avon will be set on pulling a win over the Babes for the first time in years, even with a few absentees and causalities. This preview is bought to you by our brand new website, feel free to have a good look around!
